Much has been done in terms of launching 5G in Latin America. Fortunately, regardless of the pandemic, deployment continues in the region and towering services continue to push for greater connectivity. Currently, the countries that have benefited the most from the 5G deployment wave are Chile and Peru. Another country where a large amount of 5G work is being planned is Brazil. Read on to learn more about the status of its implementation in Latin America.
An expected increase in connections
The implementation of 5G in Latin America is progressing at an impressive pace. As a result, total connections are expected to increase from the current 0.3 million to around 61.9 million by 2025. By 2025, 5G is expected to account for 13% of mobile subscriptions in the region. Latin America is also struggling to ensure that it contributes significantly to the estimated 10% of global mobile devices that will run on 5G by 2023. This estimate is according to Cisco’s Annual Internet Report.
Massive investments in 5G
Latin America is currently investing heavily in 5G deployment. This investment is being used for towering services and the purchase of equipment needed for 5G, among other things. By the end of 2021, there will be a total of 11 commercial 5G deployments across the region. Since the first 5G connections began until now, mobile operators have invested nearly $100 billion that is being used to deploy infrastructure.
5G expected to boost productivity in Latin America
There is a lot separating 5G from today’s networks. For example, this network will provide higher speeds and ultra-low latency. This is expected to facilitate the use of innovative solutions for Latin American companies looking for ways to boost productivity in the aftermath of a pandemic. Productivity gains will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the mobile technologies and services that are contributing to the region’s economy. In 2019, the mobile industry had a 7% contribution to the region’s economy, and this figure is expected to increase significantly with the contributed implementation of 5G. 5G is expected to generate many changes in Latin America as far as companies are concerned. This is probably the reason why mobile operators are investing heavily in tower services and 5G deployment. Contact us for more information.
