The neutral operator UFINET, signed last November 1, 2015 the acquisition of the entire wireless network structure of the company Redes Inalámbricas de Costa Rica (REICO). “This acquisition represents a breakthrough and a great advantage for our customers, since from now on we can provide them with a complete connectivity solution nationwide. Our fiber optic network in Costa Rica and the aforementioned radio network are fully complementary, increasing and improving our network deployment nationwide, which will allow us to reach new places, some of which are difficult to access, and with really competitive provisioning times,” said Eduardo Palacios, General Manager of UFINET in Costa Rica. “We are confident that this acquisition will help consolidate our position, coverage and service portfolio in Costa Rica. We are fully convinced that this operation will open new opportunities and scenarios for our clients.
With this acquisition, UFINET strengthens its position in the Costa Rican market, thus increasing telecommunications coverage in Costa Rica, both in the Greater Metropolitan Area and in rural areas where fiber deployment is difficult. The official endorsement by the Superintendence of Telecommunications of Costa Rica (SUTEL) took place on Friday, September 18, 2015 after four months of negotiation.
