UFINET wins “CEO of the Year” award at the Global Carrier Awards – Capacity Media

Our CEO, Iñigo García del Cerro Prieto, has been chosen as“CEO of the Year” in Capacity Media’s Global Carrier Awards.

The 15th annual Global Carrier Awards took place in London on October 30, 2019, bringing together more than 420 members of the wider wholesale telecommunications community who celebrated the industry’s greatest achievements over the past 12 months. Hosted by Rosalind Irving, CEO of Capacity Media, and Editorial Manager of Capacity and GCA Head Judge Jason McGee-Abe, at the Indigo Hotel at The O2, the gala gala dinner was truly an evening of celebration and distinction.

About Iñigo García del Cerro

Iñigo García del Cerro Prieto is a telecommunications engineer from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, an economist from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and holds an MBA from IESE Business School, Spain.

Mr. García del Cerro has actively participated in the development of UFINET as a fast-growing company, both organically and through mergers and acquisitions. In 2017, led a process to segregate our Spanish operations structure to drive and focus on Latam growth, valuing Spanish operations at a record multiple. The process lasted almost a year, and the results meant the birth of UFINET as the gateway to Latam connectivity. In 2018, Iñigo also led negotiations with ENEL (a major player in the global electricity and gas distribution market) for this company to acquire a 21% stake in UFINET.

Iñigo has always been a results-oriented leader while considering our human resources as the company’s most valuable assets. He has always empowered his people, enabling them to grow the company through the use of creativity and innovation.

In the last 24 months, UFINET has been involved in a strong inorganic evolution, acquiring a number of companies and infrastructures (in Paraguay, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Chile and Argentina), as well as opening new operations in different countries such as Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay, Argentina, Chile and Brazil.
