UFINET provides technological support to people with disabilities

UFINET joins the Panamanian Government’s effort to provide technological support to people with disabilities

Last December 10, UFINET successfully installed, together with SENADIS (National Secretary of Disability), the AIG (National Authority for Government Innovation) and the Cacao Representative, a Satellite Internet in the Sector of Las Palmitas, Corregimiento de Cacao in Capira, Province of West Panama. This connection was made in conjunction with the Government of Panama, in commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2020, to provide support and communicate rural sites to the Internet.

The link was successfully installed despite difficult weather conditions and steep, broken terrain that was difficult to access. The installation and testing of the satellite Internet service was carried out at the home of Mr. Diógenes Zamora, a young disabled man dependent on a wheelchair, lives in a remote rural location with difficult access and no other telecommunication technologies. This link will allow you a breakthrough to achieve your dream: to complete your university studies at a distance.

Such connections represent a major milestone for remote communities and can enable many new people to join the world of digital literacy.

UFINET, connecting Panama with the world.
